It is with such sadness that I send this letter to you! After 14 years in our Blakeney space, Enlighten Yoga (previously YogaFlex) will be closing its doors on January 15. Until that time, we will continue to offer yoga classes both in the studio and online.
On March 18 of this year, due to COVID-19, we were forced to close our doors for 6 months. This was the first time since we opened that we were closed for more than 3 consecutive days.
As is the case with many small businesses, the current pandemic has wreaked havoc, with all of us feeling its effects in one way or another. As a small business, having to close for 6 months followed by an uncertain and restricted reopening, puts us in an untenable position.
Over the years, we have offered an array of top quality yoga classes and workshops, offering a variety of class times and wide array of class types to best meet client needs. In our continued effort to meet this need, last year we added a second studio and expanded our boutique. It has been a pleasure to meet and study with some amazing world-renowned teachers ~ Greg
Nardi, Cora Wen, Eric Paskel, Kino MacGregor, Desiree
Rumbaugh, Doug Keller, Sean Johnson and the Wild Lotus Band, and Andrey Lappa, just to name a few.
We have served as a yoga school, training hundreds of teachers. Throughout this journey, I have met a number of talented teachers. Hilary Kossack, Johnna Smith, Amani Murray and Marilyn Brown, I am thankful for my experience working side by side with you in our RYT 200 school. Jessica Sachson, Sherri Norford, Jenn Ragland and Ann Mason, your contribution to our teaching programs was invaluable. And to all of our teachers who offered classes over the years, thank you for contributing to our beautiful and amazing space.
I have always believed in yoga “off the mat” and the importance of supporting our community. I am so proud of the community outreach work that we have achieved through Enlighten Yoga. Since our inception, we have supported a number of charities and causes including, multiple food drives, Christmas gifts for underprivileged children, Matthews Helping Hands, Breast Cancer Awareness, Alzheimer’s Association, battered women’s shelters, Isabella Santos Foundation, Mitey Riders and Drumstrong, just to name a few. Much of that support was possible through your kind support.
I am hopeful that we have provided you with a place of comfort where you were able to weather the storm of life ~ celebrating your successes and triumphs and leaning into your frustrations and disappointments. I am grateful to all of you.
Sending you all much love,
Shari
